It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month! And The Estée
Lauder Companies launched its Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign last Tuesday,
October 1st. I follow multiple brands of The Estée Lauder Companies (M-A-C, Bobbi Brown, Estée Lauder) on Twitter and Instagram, and having seen
“#BCAstrength” multiple times, I finally know what the campaign does (after
reading this article).
The campaign’s goal is to build a community of people
setting goals for themselves to be proactive, to encourage one another, and to live
healthier lives – rising against breast cancer. The campaign is present on multiple social
media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. Via Facebook, you
can create your own “Circle of Strength” with up to 10 people in your circle
and set goals as a group. For Twitter and Instagram users, you can participate
in the campaign using #BCAstrength and/or @BCAcampaign in your tweets and
captions. The campaign encourages people to share words, pictures, and/or
videos about how or where they find strength.
I visited the BCA Campaign website, and it really amazes me how people can be so strong and optimistic. Sometimes I find social media platforms very shallow and actually anti-social, but for campaigns like this one, I am so thankful for these social media platforms. Encouraging and uplifting words from strangers across the entire world is so powerful – it lets you know you’re not alone and generates a determined, fighting spirit. And the fact that The Estée Lauder Companies is quietly behind the campaign makes me love the company even more. Talk about creating value and touching lives across the world. Notice how the focus is on individuals and not products. What a great campaign creating genuine content and even changing lives!
I can’t talk about this campaign without giving you my own
answer to how I find strength. In addition to finding strength through my faith, I find strength through my mom, my best friend,
and my running. I’m so thankful for these people and for my health - they all make me feel like I can do anything! So now it’s
your turn: where do you find your strength?
Definitely check out the BCA Campaign website – so
inspiring! But before you do that, you just have to watch the campaign’s
YouTube video, “We’re Stronger Together."
